Στο πλαίσιο της σταθερής συνεργασίας της Βουλής των Ελλήνων με τους φορείς του Ελληνισμού της Διασποράς, ο Α’ Αντιπρόεδρος της Βουλής, Τάσος Κουράκης, υποδέχτηκε στο γραφείο του, τον Πρόεδρο της Παγκόσμιας Διακοινοβουλευτικής Ένωσης Ελληνισμού (ΠαΔΕΕ) κ. Θωμά Κατσιαντώνη, Πολιτειακό Βουλευτή στην Πολιτεία του New Hampshire των ΗΠΑ και τον κ. Λεωνίδα Ραπτάκη, μέλος της ΠαΔΕΕ και Πολιτειακό Γερουσιαστή στην Πολιτεία Rhodes Island των ΗΠΑ. Στη συνάντηση παρέστη και ο Διπλωματικός Σύμβουλος της Βουλής των Ελλήνων, πρέσβης κ. Σπύρος Θεοχαρόπουλος.

Στη συνάντηση συζητήθηκαν όλα τα τρέχοντα ζητήματα του ομογενειακού Ελληνισμού, ενώ υπογραμμίστηκε η σημασία της συμβολής των Ελλήνων της Διασποράς στη ζωή της χώρας. Το Προεδρείο της ΠαΔΕΕ επισήμανε την ανάγκη ενίσχυσης των δράσεων στα πεδία που αγγίζουν τον απόδημο ελληνισμό, σχετικά με την εκπαίδευση, με την αναβάθμιση της συμμετοχής της Ομογένειας στην πολιτική ζωή της χώρας, καθώς και με τα θέματα καθημερινότητας των Ελλήνων της Διασποράς.

Ο Α’ Αντιπρόεδρος της Βουλής κ. Κουράκης επανέλαβε το ενδιαφέρον της Βουλής των Ελλήνων για τα θέματα της Ομογένειας, υπογράμμισε την ανάγκη συμβολής του Απόδημου Ελληνισμού στην προώθηση των ζητημάτων εθνικής σημασίας και σημείωσε ότι η Βουλή των Ελλήνων αποτελεί σταθερό βήμα ανάδειξης όλων των θεμάτων που απασχολούν τους Έλληνες της Διασποράς.
